Apparently Fender looked at a Telecaster and said, “This thing has entirely too much wood in it.” So they hollowed it out, cut an F-hole in the top, sprayed it Firemist Gold, beat it up just enough to eliminate the anxiety of the first ding, and somehow ended up with a 6.1-pound Telecaster that looks like it has already played better gigs than most of us ever will.

This 2020 Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition ’68 Telecaster Thinline is finished in Aged Firemist Gold Metallic with a Journeyman Relic treatment and a killer white pearloid pickguard. It has all the classic Tele ingredients—ashtray bridge, brass saddles, maple neck, two single coils and enough twang to make neighboring guitars nervous—but with the added resonance and ridiculously comfortable weight of the Thinline body.

And yes, Fender relic’d the back of the neck, too. Apparently simulated decades of questionable career choices were part of the package.

Condition & What’s Included

This guitar is in excellent Journeyman Relic condition, meaning Fender already professionally installed the scratches, checking, dings and honest-looking wear so you can enjoy playing it without conducting a forensic investigation every time your belt buckle gets within six inches of the guitar.

The only change we can identify is that the original brass bass-side barrel saddle appears to have been replaced with a nickel barrel saddle. The remaining two saddles are brass, as specified on the original Fender floor traveler. Otherwise, the guitar appears to remain original.

Included is the original Fender Custom Shop hardshell case, case candy, accessories, and the original leather Custom Shop portfolio containing the Certificate of Authenticity and factory floor traveler.

At just 6.1 pounds, this is the kind of Tele you can play through a three-hour gig without needing to schedule an appointment with your chiropractor afterward.

A gorgeous, lightweight, limited-run Custom Shop Thinline with hand-wound ’67 Tele pickups, a compound-radius maple board and one of Fender’s coolest metallic finishes.

Basically, it’s a Telecaster that went on a diet, bought a gold suit, and showed up already knowing all the songs.

Whoever brings this baby home is gonna be STOKED!!
