The Ernie Ball Music Man Silhouette Special is a high-end American-made electric guitar known for being compact, lightweight, extremely well built, and very versatile.

What makes it special

• Body: contoured alder, designed to be comfortable and relatively compact.
• Neck: maple, with Music Man's oil-and-wax finish.
• Frets: 22.
• Scale: 25.5".
• Bridge: Music Man vintage tremolo.
• Tuners: Schaller locking tuners.
• Electronics: 5-way pickup selector.
• Silent Circuit: Music Man's system for substantially reducing the hum normally associated with single-coil pickups.

Why people like them

They're somewhat like a premium, more compact and modern Strat-style guitar, but they're not simply a Strat copy. The neck feel, compact body, locking tuners, sculpted neck joint, tremolo, and Music Man construction give it a distinctly different feel. The Silhouette Special was introduced in 1995 as a streamlined sister to the original Silhouette.
