The Creepy Fingers Bluemood is one of those boutique fuzzes that immediately makes sense once you know its lineage.

Its starting point is one of the most fascinating branches of the vintage fuzz family: the Marshall Supa Fuzz, itself closely related to the Tone Bender MkII. But rather than simply cloning the circuit, Creepy Fingers took that foundation and turned it into something considerably more flexible.

The Bluemood is huge, thick and unapologetically psychedelic, with the kind of harmonic density that makes a single guitar line sound enormous.

The inspiration behind the pedal is also wonderfully specific: Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues, whose use of Marshall fuzz helped create that soaring, sputtering psychedelic sound associated with the era. Hendrix, Pete Townshend, Jeff Beck and Ron Asheton are also part of the broader Supa Fuzz lineage.

What makes this version particularly interesting is the additional control over the behaviour of the fuzz. The Decay control works on the bias, allowing you to move from sustained, saturated fuzz into shorter, more sputtering and gated textures. A further control lets you blend the original treble-forward character with a fatter, bass-heavy version of the circuit.

The result is not simply another Tone Bender clone.

It is a modern American interpretation of one of the great British fuzz sounds, with enough control to move from enormous classic-rock sustain to unstable, collapsing psychedelic textures.
