This hand-wired 1971 Marshall Super Tremolo 100W has been expertly modified with a Langer-style five-gain-stage circuit called the "Bay Area Thrash" mod. I developed this mod as an homage to Langner's DCP-1 and Marshall mods which I've had the pleasure of playing.
It has all original iron, including the highly coveted "Plexi" Dagnall C1998 output transformer and original power transformer with no extra holes drilled anywhere on the chassis.
The mod uses the trem circuit's extra 12AX7 for a total of five cascaded gain stages, new filter caps, master volume, and a number of other preamp changes that give it more oomph and aggression. Additionally, in place of the stock trem controls for speed and intensity, the amp now has a variable NFB and Depth controls. Two of the speaker outputs have been repurposed for an FX loop send/return.
The amp works without any issues and comes loaded with your choice of JJ EL34 II or 6CA7 and Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG, HG+, and Sovtek LPS in the preamp. I also have a large stash of NOS tubes available: RFT EL34 and Siemens, Mullard, Tungsram, RFT, and Ei ECC83/12AX7.
