The B173 mkII is Black Lion Audio’s take on the classic British ’73-style preamp sound, using Cinemag transformers on both the input and output stages. It has a full, substantial low end, forward midrange, and plenty of transformer character when pushed, while still providing enough gain for demanding microphones.

The stepped input gain and separate output level control make it easy to drive the input stage harder for additional transformer saturation while controlling the final output level.
