Ernie Ball Music Man Short Scale StingRay - Black

The Ernie Ball Music Man Short Scale StingRay Bass takes everything players love about the iconic StingRay and delivers it in a more compact, effortlessly playable package. With its 30” scale length, this bass feels immediately comfortable under the hands, offering shorter distances between frets that make it easier to navigate the neck, move around the instrument, and settle into a relaxed playing position. But don’t let its smaller dimensions fool you. This StingRay has the unmistakable presence and authority that players expect from a Music Man bass, pairing a remarkably comfortable feel with a big, deep, and beautifully thumpy voice that invites you to dig in and play.

At the heart of the Short Scale StingRay is a custom-designed Ernie Ball Music Man passive humbucking pickup, equipped with higher-output neodymium magnets and voiced specifically for the 30” scale. The result is a warm, rich tone with plenty of low-end weight, punch, and character. It has that unmistakable roundness that makes short scale basses so addictive, while retaining the clarity and articulation needed to cut through a mix. A 3-way rotary switch gives you three distinct voices to explore: parallel for a balanced and articulate sound, true single-coil for added bite and definition, and series for maximum power, warmth, and fullness. Whether you're laying down a deep pocket, pushing an amp into its sweet spot, or searching for something more expressive and textured, the Short Scale StingRay gives you a surprising amount of tonal personality.

Like its big brother, the StingRay Special, the Short Scale StingRay is built to be a serious working instrument. A modern classic bridge provides solid feel and dependable intonation, while 22 stainless steel frets offer exceptional durability and a smooth, comfortable playing surface that is ready for years of playing. Lightweight Music Man tuning machines help keep the instrument balanced and comfortable, making it equally at home on stage, in the studio, or in your living room. It is a bass that feels familiar without feeling ordinary, combining the legendary character of the StingRay with the immediacy and intimacy of a short scale design. For players who love a bass with warmth, attitude, and unmistakable personality, the Short Scale StingRay may be one of the most inspiring StingRays yet.
