The Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor uses a send/return loop to isolate noise from effects while preserving the instrument signal. Threshold and Decay knobs let you dial in how aggressively it cuts hum and hiss, and the Reduction LED shows when the gate is active. It can also function as a mute switch for tuning or switching guitars.

The circuit employs a high-quality VCA and fast envelope detection so the expander engages only when the instrument level drops below the threshold, keeping tone and dynamics intact. A 9 V DC output jack allows daisy-chaining power to other pedals via an optional parallel cable.
