- Analog circuit acting as a frequency doubler, envelope generator, and amplitude modulator, plus frequency‑shaping filters.

- Very touch‑sensitive: responds to picking attack, guitar volume/tone settings, and how hard you drive it; can range from subtle to wild.

- Adds distortion, sustain, and characteristic “ring‑modulated” overtones depending on settings and input signal.

- Evolved to include the feedforward and gating behavior that Jimi Hendrix’s later Octavia units had.

- DRIVE: Sets pre‑EQ gain; increases harmonics, sustain, and affects feedforward/gating threshold.

- TONE: Active tone circuit between drive and octave stages to shape harmonics and blend; retains the classic tone but adds flexibility.

- OUTPUT: Sets final output level.

- One true hard‑wire (unbuffered) output.

- Two buffered, low‑impedance outputs that can drive long cables without high‑frequency loss.

- Bypass options: True hard‑wire bypass plus buffered bypass modes; you can compare/choose between them.
