The BOSS FZ-1W Waza Craft is a premium analog fuzz pedal for electric guitar. It is part of BOSS's Waza Craft series and was designed as a modern interpretation of the classic fuzz sounds that became popular in the 1960s.

The FZ-1W uses silicon transistors rather than germanium transistors. This gives it the aggressive, dynamic character associated with vintage fuzz while making the pedal more stable and consistent with changes in temperature and power supply.

It has two modes:

• Vintage — raspy, expressive, vintage-style fuzz with lots of sustain and dynamic response.
• Modern — higher gain, thicker, more focused mids, and a fatter sound suited to contemporary rock and heavier styles.

Controls

• FUZZ — controls the amount of fuzz and sustain.
• TONE — adjusts the brightness/character of the sound.
• LEVEL — controls the overall output volume.
• V/M switch — selects Vintage or Modern mode.
• Footswitch — turns the effect on and off.

One particularly useful feature is that the FZ-1W responds well to your guitar's volume control. Rolling the guitar volume back can clean up the fuzz considerably, allowing you to get both fuzz and lighter crunch from the same pedal.
