1966 Fender Bassman head, blackface era

Here is a 1966 blackface Fender Bassman head. Un-modded, super clean, freshly serviced and in perfect working condition.

A little about the Bassman: This is one of THE holy grail amps of all time, and for good reason. Boasting 40 watts of power, this amp produces all of the famous sparkling Fender clean tones (particularly with a Telecaster or a Stratocaster) up to about 5 on the volume knob, and takes effects pedals like a true champ. At 5, you're just entering that beautiful Fender edge of breakup territory (think Tom Petty). Go beyond that, and the natural overdrive of this amp will equal or out-Marshall pretty much any real deal vintage Marshall, especially with a Les Paul or similar dual humbucker guitar. It's one of the best hard rock amps I've ever heard when pushed to about 7 or 8. And as its name implies, it sounds incredible for bass, as originally intended.

This particular one was completely checked out by Commonwealth Pro Audio (a certified Fender tech) in Louisville, KY a few months ago. They confirmed that the amp has had a cap job done by a previous tech at some point in its life and that there is no evidence of leakage from the replacement electrolytic caps. They also re-soldered a few broken connections, replaced the 1.5K resistors on the output tubes, removed the so-called "death cap" (since the amp has had a grounded three prong cord installed previously, the "death cap" was no longer necessary), removed the polarity switch from the circuit (also unnecessary for the same reason), replaced the 12AT7 phase inverter tube, replaced the pilot light bulb, and properly set the bias for the output tubes. Tubes are non-original, but all tested good. It was given a 100% fully clean bill of health and it sounds amazing. This one is good to go for many years to come, absolutely no maintenance needed for the foreseeable future. I have the service receipt, along with the replaced parts, and they will be included.
