Nonlinearcircuits 1U Difference Rectifier, built and tested by hand. Official NLC PCB and panel.
Andrew Fitch calls the diff-rect one of his favourite circuits, and for good reason — it shows up inside the Neuron, the 1050 mix/sequencer, the Triple Sloth, GENiE, and eight of them make up the Let’s Splosh. This tile puts one on its own panel.
It’s a hybrid of two op-amp building blocks that have no business being merged: a difference circuit and a rectifier. Vin- gets subtracted from Vin+, and whatever’s left goes out the + output if it’s above zero, or the - output if it’s below. Four inputs, two outputs, no controls.
What that means in practice: it’s a mixer that refuses to behave like one. Mix audio, mix CV, mix both — you get folded, split, rectified results that a normal summing mixer would never give you. Cheapest way to make a patch go somewhere unexpected.
Assembled with quality components powered up and tested on the bench. Ribbon cable included. Ships from Quebec, Canada.
