Nik Huber Orca Custom 2012 transparent flame black
Nik Huber is located in Germany and makes some of the absolute best
instruments in the world. There are not a lot more than 2,400 total that
he has made to date. And there are very few dealers that carry them.
They are expensive and the wait time to get one can run up to 2 years,
last I heard.
This is an outstanding example of how good a guitar can be. Elegant, yet relatively subtle beauty, with the "exceptional top" option. . It has the flamed maple neck as well as the ebony board (and ebony tuners and knobs and pickup rings and TRC and switch tip and back plate covers. "Natural binding" on the body---Who needs plastic?). And the superb Haussell pickups with coil split. She really sings, with a bit more "bite" than the thicker bodied Orca 59. Oh, and the inlays are sterling silver. LOTS of upcharges! Black and silver.....Could almost be an "Oakland Raider" thing!
In some respects, kind of like a Gibson Les Paul Custom. But not really like any you have ever played.
There were two of these made, virtually identical. The only difference was the other had a slight upcharge for a "short scale" (24.75" whereas this is 25"). Original list when new was in the mid-$8ks for each one. That was 2012, so I assume the equivalent price would be a fair amount higher today.
Excellent condition. As is the original tweed-type hardshell case. No issues.
