This is a fresh resto-mod. I received this amp in pretty good shape but a bad power transformer. I decided to replace almost everything with upgraded parts. The power transformer is a brand new Hammond 290AX, same as used in modern Champs and Princetons, it has more available current and a center tapped filament secondary. The output transformer is a brand new Hammond 1760C with 3.2/8/16 ohm secondaries. I upgraded the internal speaker jack to a 1/4” Switchcraft shunt jack which protects the amplifier if the amp is turned on with no speaker plugged in. I installed 2 more jacks on the back for the 3.2 (4) ohm and 16 ohm taps. You don’t have to unplug the internal 8 ohm speaker to use the other outputs, simply hit the switch to turn it off. Also on the back is a switch to turn on or off the negative feedback loop. Turn off for earlier breakup and more presence at lower volumes. All electrolytic capacitors have been upgraded to high quality components, C.E. Multi-section filter cap, and Sprague Atom bypass and coupling caps, mica snubber caps, and upgraded resistors in the proper places. 750 ohm 5 watt cement bias resistor to tame the plate dissipation. 250ma internal HT safety fuse to protect the amplifier from a power tube short, and safety diodes on the rectifier tube to protect the amp from a rectifier short. Speaker has been upgraded to a 1964 Heppner Alnico 8” 8 ohm 25w woofer from a Hammond organ. It’s arguably the best 8” Alnico guitar speaker ever made. The 6.3v lamp/filament wiring has been completely modernized with an “Aqua” blue jeweled isolated lamp and elevated “twisted pair” wiring utilizing the new 6.3v center tap for the quietest possible noise floor. This amp has no hum/buzz at idle but plugged into your favorite speaker cabinet it absolutely rips. You are welcome to try any of my MANY vintage 12AX7 type tubes to find which one works the best for your playing style. Right now it’s running a super rare 1959 Westinghouse 12DF7 that is seriously three-dimensional. Price is firm. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars and countless hours making this amp as clean, quiet, and bulletproof as possible.
