2017 Rupert Neve Designs Portico II Master Buss Processor.

I’ll address the obvious first: this is not priced like the average used MBP, because this isn’t the average used MBP.

Before listing it, I had the unit comprehensively serviced and gone through, including replacing all of the knobs and switches. Not because it had failed, and not because I was trying to fix something cheaply enough to sell it. Quite the opposite, I wanted the next owner to receive a piece that had been properly refreshed and was ready to go into a studio without immediately inheriting the maintenance that can come with buying nine-year-old analog equipment.

Admittedly, that’s probably an unconventional amount of work to put into a piece of gear immediately before selling it. Most sellers understandably leave that responsibility to the next owner. I didn’t want to do that.

So if you’re simply looking for the least expensive Portico II MBP on Reverb, this probably isn’t the one for you. There are less expensive examples out there.

If you’re looking for an exceptionally clean silver-face MBP that’s been cared for, freshly serviced, had its controls refreshed, and isn’t arriving as a nine-year-old question mark, that’s what I’m offering here.

Cosmetically, it’s about as close to mint as I think you can reasonably expect from a 2017 piece. The photos are of the actual unit and I’ve tried to photograph it honestly.

If you’re looking at an MBP, you probably don’t need me to copy and paste the spec sheet. It’s an extraordinarily capable stereo buss/mastering processor: compression, variable ratio, parallel blend, Silk/Texture, sidechain filtering and inserts, limiter, and the Stereo Field Editor. It can be remarkably transparent or provide quite a bit of color when asked.

This is also the earlier silver-face version, rather than the current darker faceplate design. I’m not going to call something from 2017 “vintage” just yet, but personally I’ve always liked the classic Rupert Neve Designs silver aesthetic.

I spent years working professionally in mastering, and this came out of that setup. I’m only selling it because I’ve closed the studio and have been slowly thinning out the remaining equipment.
