The black Shure WL185m is a discreet, low-profile cardioid lavalier microphone well suited to a wide variety of interview, presentation, broadcast, and film/video applications. The mic features a TA4F connector compatible with select Shure wireless transmitters. Not only does the lav offer a profile that is 8mm shorter then previous models, the WL185m delivers better audio quality with an improved presence response, higher dynamic range, and lower self-noise for crystal clear speech and vocals.

The electret condenser capsule filters out unwanted low frequencies below 70 Hz and delivers a high-end response up to 20 kHz to provide clear, intelligible speech for instructors, journalists, and presenters doing interviews, voiceovers, and dialog. The diaphragm can handle SPL levels up to 140.5 dB, while the cardioid pickup pattern focuses audio capture on the talent wearing the mic, picking up less audio from surrounding sources and helping to reduce feedback from sound-reinforcement equipment.

Optimized for a 5 VDC plug-in power source, the mic features a 4' cable terminating in a TA4F connector for use with a compatible Shure wireless bodypack transmitter or similar device. A snap-fit windscreen and adjustable lapel clip that offers 90° rotation for optimal mic placement are included. A zippered storage pouch is also supplied.

TA4F Connector Compatible Wireless Transmitters

• Shure: works with Shure transmitters equipped with a TA4M connector, including the following models: AD1, ADX1, AXT100TA4F, BLX1, GLXD1, MXW1, PGXD1, QLXD1, SLX1, SLXD1, ULX1, and ULXD1
• Third-party devices: the WL185m will work with third-party wireless transmitters that are equipped to supply 5 VDC through a TA4M connector

A Discreet and Dependable Cardioid Lavalier Cardioid Polar Pattern The cardioid polar pattern focuses sound capture in front of the mic, helping to reduce background noise and loudspeaker feedback. Headroom for Speech and Vocals This TA4F version of the WL185m offers a 120.5 dB dynamic range and a very low self-noise of only 20 dB SPL; it can also handle up to 140.5 dB SPL with only 1% total harmonic distortion (THD), providing headroom for broadcast-quality interviews, speech, and dialog. Frequency Response Tailored for Speech With a frequency range from 70 Hz to 20 kHz, the mic filters out unnecessary low frequencies and provides extended high-end range for accurate and transparent speech reproduction. Low-Profile Appearance Compared to the original, the durable aluminum alloy housing on the WL185m is 8mm shorter and features a smaller snap-on windscreen, providing a more discreet appearance for presenters, performers, and on-camera talent.
