Personal Thoughts:
This is a superb ’59 ES-335 Reissue and one of the strongest vintage-style semi-hollow guitars Gibson Custom produces. The Vintage Sunburst finish is exactly right for the model, with the dark rosewood board, dot inlays and understated nickel hardware giving it the classic late-’50s look without anything unnecessary.
The specification is built around the original 1959 formula, with a rounded neck profile, semi-hollow maple construction and unpotted Alnico III Custombuckers. The result should be open, woody and extremely responsive, with plenty of clarity and harmonic detail when played clean and a lovely vocal quality once the pickups start pushing an amp. The centre block keeps things focused and controllable at volume while retaining the resonance and air that makes a great 335 so addictive.
A beautifully judged Custom Shop reissue that works equally well for blues, jazz, classic rock and more expressive lead playing. It is exactly the kind of guitar that feels traditional without being restrictive.
Condition Report:
Excellent condition. Presents very cleanly overall with only light signs of careful use and no significant wear or damage to mention. Supplied with its original Gibson Custom hardshell case and associated documentation.
