Yamaha FG-150 Red Label Folk Guitar 1970s - Natural (Fully Refurbished / Non-Invasive Neck Reset) with Vintage Hard Shell Case

Up for sale is a beautiful vintage Yamaha FG-150 "Red Label" acoustic guitar, made in Japan at the legendary Nippon Gakki factory. These folk-sized bodies are famous for punching way above their weight class in tone, warmth, and volume. This listing includes the guitar and an era-appropriate vintage hard shell case.

Like most vintage Yamahas from this era, this guitar originally arrived with high action due to decades of string tension pulling the top inward. Instead of performing a destructive traditional neck reset on an old factory glue joint, I completed a meticulous, non-invasive neck reset using the John Miner steam/jig method. The guitar was safely steamed through the soundhole and clamped under a specialized jig for 3 full weeks. The top returned to its original position, the neck angle is fully corrected, and it is stabilized.

I went through the rest of the guitar to bring it up to top-tier playing condition. The full list of upgrades and maintenance includes:

• Neck & Setup: Truss rod adjusted for great relief. The neck is nice and straight. The action is now wonderfully low and comfortable with absolutely no buzz anywhere on the board.
• Fretwork: Frets have been leveled and polished. The fingerboard was cleaned and conditioned.
• Nut & Saddle: Upgraded to a bone nut and matching bone saddle for maximum sustain and clarity.
• Bridge Pins: Swapped the factory pins for premium ebony bridge pins.
• Tuners: The original Yamaha tuners were completely stripped down, cleaned, polished, and lubricated.
• Strings: Brand new set of Martin Retro strings installed.

Condition:
Cosmetically, the guitar shows normal vintage wear consistent with its age—light surface scratches, small dings, and play wear that add to its vintage vibe. There are no structural cracks or issues. The neck heel remains tight against the body. The vintage hard case is fully functional, showing typical age-appropriate exterior wear, with secure latches and hinges.
