The ES-335 was introduced in 1958 as the first semi-hollow electric guitar with a solid center block, combining the tonal resonance of a hollow-body with the feedback resistance of a solid-body—an innovation that quickly established itself as a classic. The 1959 model offered here is one of the most sought-after reissue versions and features authentic vintage specs combined with the impeccable craftsmanship of the Gibson Custom Shop.

The maple/poplar/maple body in a semi-hollow construction with a solid center block offers the perfect blend of sustain, resonance, and clarity. Weighing in at a mere 3.39kg, this 2023 model is also extremely easy to handle and puts no strain on the back, even during longer playing sessions. The laminated mahogany neck with a bolder Authentic ’59 Medium C profile and the bound rosewood fingerboard—featuring dot pearl inlays—further ensure an authentic vintage playing feel.

Sonically, thanks to the two Gibson Custom AlNiCo III (unpotted) humbuckers, the guitar delivers the legendary PAF tone: warm, dynamic, and assertive, ranging from smooth, jazzy cleans to powerful, rock-driven overdrive sounds—giving the guitar incredible tonal versatility and making it excel in everything from funk to blues to rock.

The Gibson Custom Shop 1959 ES-335 Reissue in Pelham Blue is no longer produced in this configuration and is extremely rare.
