Rare Vintage 70s Shiro 14x5” Steel Snare Drum – 8 Lugs MIJ (Excellent Condition)

Up for sale is an exceptionally well-preserved vintage 1970s Shiro 14x5” steel snare drum, manufactured in Japan (MIJ). Shiro was one of the classic Japanese stencil brands produced during the golden era of Japanese drum manufacturing.

This drum is in Excellent condition. The chrome plating is smooth and reflective with zero pitting, flaking, or rust holes. All shell hardware—including the internal muffler, throw-off, butt plate, and 8 double-ended lugs—is fully original, functional, and clean.

 Shell: Chrome-over-steel with central parallel beads

 Lugs: 8 double-ended Hi-Tension lugs

 Features: Original internal tone control/muffler with ribbed tension dial, plus period-correct lever throw-off — both fully smooth and operational

 Originality: All primary shell hardware, muffler, and throw-off are original. Heads and snare wires replaced. (Tension rods are period-correct/matching, though original status cannot be guaranteed).

 Heads & Wires: Fitted with an Evans batter head, Remo clear resonant head, and upgraded wide multi-strand snare wires for maximum sensitivity and response

 Condition: Excellent. Mirror-finish chrome shell and hardware, tight badge grommet, no pitting, and only light handling marks on lugs/hoops consistent with age.
