"D-45 Commemorative," a limited edition of only 91 units released in Japan, inspired by the original "D-45" and commemorating the number produced at the time. This particular instrument is modeled after a 1942 model, the final year of pre-war production. This instrument is a used item from 2013. It features an Adirondack spruce top and wild-figured Madagascar rosewood sides and back. It boasts an ebony fingerboard and bridge, gold Waverly open-back tuners, a Del Mar tortoiseshell pickguard, abalone trim and rosette inlay on the top, abalone hexagon fingerboard inlays, a Madagascar rosewood veneer, mosaic backstrip, ivoroid binding, and scalloped X-bracing. This model possesses the characteristics of the final period of the original D-45. With its hexagon fretboard inlays, 42.9mm nut width, open-back tuners, and long saddle, this guitar boasts a combination of woods that closely resemble the originals, exuding a refined elegance through its meticulously crafted details. Needless to say, the sound quality is superb. It possesses a finely detailed resonance that feels even more vibrant and fresh, a full-bodied tone with a rich, thick quality, and a sound that seems to melt into the air. However, it's not a mellow tone; it has a playable, dynamic sound. The volume and tonal balance are completely different from regular models. This resonance is truly impressive, a testament to the high quality of the Martin Custom Shop. The nut and saddle have been replaced with bone, and while there are slight signs of repaired binding peeling on the treble side of the body, the workmanship is extremely meticulous. Overall, the guitar shows very little signs of use, with only a very faint nicks near the soundhole on the 6th string side of the body top (visible only under light), slight wiping marks on the paint surface, and minor pick scratches on the pickguard. It's hard to believe it's over 10 years old. The neck is in excellent condition with plenty of fret life remaining. The saddle also has plenty of life left, making it a highly playable instrument. This Commemorative model, one of the most highly regarded and popular 45 Custom models in recent years, is rarely available on the used market and sells out quickly whenever it does. Don't miss this opportunity! An original hardshell case is included.
