I am offering a Yamaha SA2200 BS from 2003, a handcrafted in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka (Japan), semi-hollow premium electric guitar by the traditional guitar maker Yamaha, featuring top, back, and sides made of three-dimensionally figured flamed maple with solid center maple block, set mahogany neck with slim neck profile and 43mm bone nut, bound ebony fingerboard with split-block mother-of-pearl inlays, two versatile Yamaha Japan Alnico V humbucker pickups including sophisticated electronics with push/pull coil-split function for each humbucker, high-quality Yamaha Gotoh tuners, as well as a Tune-o-Matic bridge, including Stopbar tailpiece, in a beautiful sunburst high-gloss finish with gold hardware and black pickguard, in excellent condition, including brown Gator luxury hardshell case and professional setup with 10-46 Elixir Optiweb strings.

It has been well known for over half a century that Yamaha builds outstanding guitars in Japan. The build quality, characterized by a great attention to detail and extreme precision, is of an exceptionally high standard, and the woods used are equally impressive to both the eye and the ear. Yamaha Japan’s commitment to producing high-quality guitars at a reasonable price is evident in every Yamaha Japan guitar.

And this early Yamaha SA2200 BS from 2003—one of the model’s early production years—is the best proof of that. This successful thinline semi-hollow interpretation of an ES-335 features a solid maple sustain block running through the entire body, which ensures excellent tone transmission and dynamic response while simultaneously minimizing the risk of feedback, even at high volumes and gain levels.

Two versatile Alnico V humbuckers deliver a wide sound spectrum through the amp, ranging from rock to jazz, and features such as the 3-way pickup selector switch—combined with push-pull coil splitting for each humbucker individually— expand the range to include exciting single-coil sound options, making the SA2200 an incredibly flexible tool.

A sound sample of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.

In terms of playability, a slim mahogany neck, combined with the 43mm bone nut, the short 628mm scale length, and the double cutaway, ensures incredibly smooth playability all the way up to the highest registers with clean intonation.

And visually—there’s no question—the guitar captivates with a classic brown sunburst look that beautifully highlights the maple’s intense flame grain and is aesthetically complemented by the split-block mother-of-pearl inlays set into the jet-black ebony fretboard and the elaborate pearl floral logo decoration on the headstock.
