I’ve owned this katana for 32 years, and it’s time to pass the torch! It came to me with the EMG actives installed. Black Floyd rose added later to match the pickups, as original chrome floating fridge had a missing fine tune knob. rare black string locking clamps. Rear cavity cover will be installed prior to shipping. Ships with original hard shell case. no trem arm but standard ones will fit. This guitar is in fantastic playing condition and is a rare jem for any fender aficionado‘s collection!
This katana has a hot look and plays just as great! Rosewood fretboard is immaculate! As expected for a 40yr old guitar it has its knicks and dings as shown.

Right in the thick of super strat shredders and aggressive metal guitars there was Fender, the odd man out.  

Dealers were anxious for a more aggressive Fender version that rivaled the likes of Jackson, BC Rich, and Charvel. Plus Fender needed inventory (period) and inventory of something different.

The result of Dan’s vision was the Fender Katana, made by Fender Japan. (There was a Squier version with one humbucker and a natural finish headstock and a bass Squier as well.)     
Production lasted one year.
