Offered here is a 1990 Ibanez UV7PWH Universe, the original white seven-string Steve Vai model from the first year of Universe production.

The Universe is one of the most historically significant guitars ever produced by Ibanez. Developed with Steve Vai, it was introduced in 1990 as the seven-string evolution of the JEM concept and became the first mass-produced solid-body seven-string electric guitar. The Universe went on to influence an entire generation of extended-range guitar design.

The UV7PWH is the iconic original white version, featuring the white pearloid pickguard, white DiMarzio Blaze II pickups, rosewood fingerboard and the unmistakable pearl and abalone disappearing-pyramid inlays. It was one of the original Universe models introduced in 1990.

Exceptional collector condition

This particular example is in exceptional, collector-grade condition for a 1990 instrument.

What immediately stands out is how little evidence there is that this guitar was actually played:

• Virtually no pick/fingernail scratching on the pickguard
• No meaningful oxidation or wear on the hardware
• Exceptionally clean tuners, bridge and fine tuners
• Beautifully preserved rosewood fingerboard and pyramid inlays
• Extremely clean white finish
• Only three small cosmetic scratches found after a very close inspection
• No obvious signs of heavy use or abuse

It is rare to encounter a 35+ year-old Universe with this combination of originality and preservation.

The guitar is also accompanied by its original Ibanez case with the distinctive burgundy/red plush interior, completing the package.
