Description

The Dunlop Joe Bonamassa Fuzz Face is a hand-wired germanium Fuzz Face designed specifically around Bonamassa's use of humbucker-equipped guitars. It uses matched NOS Russian military germanium transistors, giving it the thick, sustaining character of a vintage Fuzz Face while retaining more definition and punch with powerful pickups.

This version is well regarded for its big, warm low end, smooth highs, strong sustain, and excellent cleanup from the guitar's volume control. Compared with many germanium Fuzz Faces, it stays relatively focused and articulate with humbuckers without becoming overly woolly or compressed. Yet, it still delivers with single coils. More on the 'Darkside' than 'Are You Experienced.' Turn the fuzz up for thick, singing lead tones, or back off the guitar volume for cleaner, more dynamic textures.

The simple Fuzz and Volume controls are very much part of the appeal. The circuit is highly interactive with the guitar and amplifier, delivering everything from touch-sensitive fuzz boost sounds to warm, saturated Fuzz Face sustain.
