Fender / American Acoustasonic Stratocaster

An all-new acoustic guitar from the giant of electric guitars, Fender!!

A hollow body with mahogany back and sides and a spruce top is paired with Fender's signature bolt-on neck, giving it the feel of both an acoustic and an electric guitar!!

At the heart of its sound is a proprietary Acoustic Engine developed jointly with Fishman. Development also involved Tim Shaw, who worked on Gibson pickups in the 1970s-80s and is now at Fender, and the guitar combines a humbucker-style pickup, a piezo, and a body sensor pickup - three sources in total - to generate a wide range of tones.

Here's how the controls work: the selector switch lets you choose between simulated tones and pickup combinations, running from position 5 at the front to position 1. (see chart below) The knob in the usual tone-control position works as a blender - turned fully counterclockwise you get sound A, and turning it clockwise blends in sound B.

With 10 total voices available, it might seem overwhelming at first with so many options, but the switch and knob count are kept minimal, so once you understand the basic layout you can shape tones intuitively.

Picking it up, the neck immediately feels like a familiar Fender neck, and it plays similarly to an electric guitar. That said, this one is strung with acoustic guitar strings, so there's a genuinely unique feel you won't find on a standard electric.

The neck and wood have been inspected and adjusted by an acoustic guitar specialist and are all in good condition. The neck is set straight with no buzzing or dead spots, and action at the 12th fret is optimally set at about 1.7mm (low E) and 1.5mm (high E).
