Marshall 1960A 300W 4x12" Angled Cabinet
I bought this from the original owner (my bandmate) in 2005. It’s been used on lots of gigs which is obvious from the pictures of wear. The cabinet works perfectly, only cosmetic imperfections that do not impede the use of the cab. Downsizing my collection of gear.
This is the cab behind the classic British rock sound. Four 75-watt Celestion G12T-75 speakers (300W total, 16 ohms mono / 4 ohms stereo) in a 15/16" birch ply enclosure with the angled baffle, which projects up and out for better stage coverage.
Sonic character:
- Tight, punchy low end that stays focused at high volume instead of getting flabby
- Aggressive, forward upper mids with real bite and presence
- Crisp, slightly glassy top end with a pronounced 3-5kHz push that cuts through a mix
- Fast attack and clear note definition, even with heavy gain
- Handles everything from edge-of-breakup crunch to full saturated stacks
Who's known for it:
The Marshall 4x12 is a backbone of hard rock and metal. Players associated with 1960-style Marshall cabs include Angus Young (AC/DC, Back in Black, Highway to Hell), Slash (Guns N' Roses, Appetite for Destruction), Zakk Wylde, Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne, Blizzard of Ozz), Dimebag Darrell, and Eddie Van Halen's early Marshall-driven work.
