The Captain's Classy SG

Gibson Kirk Douglas Signature SG Custom - Ebony (MINT/Unplayed Upgraded "Captain" SG

Grab an incredibly upgraded, showroom-ready "Holy Grail" SG.

Up for sale is a jaw-dropping Gibson Kirk Douglas Signature SG Custom in stunning Ebony finish. This guitar is essentially unplayed and ungigged—it has spent its life resting safely in its case, taken out strictly for these photos and professional upgrades.

I am only parting with this incredible instrument because I am thinning down my personal collection ahead of a major out-of-state move. It is no longer available from Gibson, making this a rare opportunity to grab one in pristine condition.

Premium Upgrades Installed:
While this signature model is incredible stock, this specific guitar has been carefully upgraded with elite, professional-grade hardware for flawless performance:

• Grover Locking Tuners (Gold): Upgraded from the stock non-locking tuners for rock-solid tuning stability, even with heavy vibrato use, and lightning-fast string changes.
• ABM Roller Bridge (Gold): A premium German-engineered brass roller bridge replaces the standard factory bridge. This eliminates string friction at the saddle, dramatically improving tuning return when using the Vibrola tailpiece and preventing string breakage. Value $250USD, compared to the cheap Gibson Tune-o-matic.
• Optima Gold-Plated Strings: Freshly set up and strung with elite 24K gold-plated strings for incredible longevity, brilliant tone, and a striking aesthetic match to the gold hardware.

About the Guitar:
Commemorating "Captain" Kirk Douglas (celebrated guitarist of The Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon), this is one of the most visually stunning and sonically versatile SGs ever made. It features a resonant mahogany body and neck, a bound rosewood fretboard with large block acrylic inlays, elegant split-diamond headstock inlay, and the signature "Captain" Lyre Tail Vibrola tailpiece.Equipped with three powerful Gibson BurstBucker pickups (BB1, BB2, and BB3), the electronics offer unparalleled versatility. Each pickup has an individual volume control with a push/pull pot for single-coil splitting. A master tone control sits alongside a unique pickguard-mounted master volume knob, letting you blend any combination of the three pickups flawlessly.

Condition Notes:
The guitar is in spectacular, mint condition with no fret wear or play wear. There is only one barely noticeable cosmetic ding located just below the treble side of the Vibrola plate. It is samll and superficial and doesn't break the gloss finish, and can only be seen if you catch the light at a specific angle. (see photos). Otherwise, the guitar is absolutely immaculate.

Inclusions: Ships in its original factory Gibson deluxe hardshell case.
