Ernie Ball Music Man Majesty 8 Premium Select - Strawberry Moon Overview

The Ernie Ball Music Man Majesty 8 Premium Select in Strawberry Moon represents the eight-string evolution of John Petrucci’s groundbreaking signature platform, combining extended-range capability with the precision, ergonomics, and tonal versatility that define the Majesty. Developed through years of touring and recording, the Premium Select construction centers around a Honduran mahogany neck-through design with alder wings and a substantial maple top, delivering exceptional sustain, depth, articulation, and stability across its expansive range.

The Majesty 8 employs a multi-scale design that runs from 25.5" on the treble side to 27" on the bass side. This gives the lower strings the additional tension and definition an eight-string guitar demands while preserving a familiar, responsive feel on the upper strings. Its ebony fingerboard features 24 medium-jumbo stainless steel frets, Atlante Majesty inlays, and a 17" radius built for effortless technical playing, wide bends, and precise articulation.

A pair of custom-slanted DiMarzio pickups provides the Majesty 8's magnetic voice, with a Rainmaker humbucker at the neck and Dreamcatcher humbucker at the bridge. Their angled positioning complements the multi-scale architecture, while Music Man's active preamp and onboard 20+ dB gain boost add another level of control for everything from pristine passages to saturated lead tones.

The electronics go far beyond a conventional dual-humbucker layout. In addition to magnetic pickup switching, the Majesty 8 incorporates a piezo bridge system for acoustic-inspired textures, dedicated magnetic/piezo selection, custom pickup configurations, and switchable mono/stereo operation. This extensive tonal flexibility makes it possible to move between—and even integrate—electric and piezo sounds from a single instrument.

Finished in striking Strawberry Moon with matching neck treatment and black hardware, the Majesty 8 Premium Select combines its unmistakably futuristic silhouette with world-class appointments, including Schaller M6-IND locking tuners and a Music Man custom piezo hardtail bridge with solid steel saddles. For progressive metal, technical instrumental work, modern studio production, or any player who wants maximum range without sacrificing refinement, the Majesty 8 is an exceptionally sophisticated performance instrument.
