Migma Star Bass 1960s - Red semi Hollow VG cond w video

Very unique Vintage Migma "STAR" Bass made in Germany in the 1960s. This bass was made by Master Luthier Lothar JunghÃnel designed and built by Him in Zwickau, Germany under license for Migma.

The bass has a very unique design and shape. It's main body shape is composed of 2 carved and hollowed pieces of wood ( top and bottom plates ) joined to form this incredible hollow body bass with unique sound holes. The body sides are rounded off with no binding present to give this bass an organic/sci fi look. It looks like it was formed of plastic but is made from solid woods. I don't have info on what woods were used in the making of this instrument. (It's that rare). I would guess Maple throughout. Very few of these basses were made.

The neck scale is short like a guitar and has no truss rod. There is a slight bow but is very playable as the neck is narrow. The pickup is an amazing sounding German made vintage single coil built into the pickguard. The original output jack coming from the PU was not a standard so it was wired as a 3.5mm to a 1/4 inch.

This bass has the vintage vibe in spades. Good for R&B, Blues, Rock or with the treble rolled off - Reggae ! If you mainly play guitar a short scale bass like this is a nice scale to play bass if needed. It is comfortable to play and sounds great.

The neck is removable with a Stauffer bolt attachment at the heel. A brilliant German bolt on neck design that works great and allows some easy adjustment if needed. The heel has a crack at the bolt that was repaired and is very stable. (see photo) Also the tuner buttons were replaced otherwise everything else original. And a very cool engraved tailpiece to boot! All in all a very cool and super rare piece.
