1985 Gibson Les Paul Studio Standard – Tobacco Sunburst (Tim Shaw PAFs)
This is a genuine vintage road warrior. This is a 1985 Gibson Les Paul Studio Standard in Tobacco Sunburst, equipped with its original Tim Shaw PAF pickups. From the pics I’m pretty sure we can see zebra coils..not Positive. The Studio Standard was a short-lived model in the mid-80s, combining the stripped-down look of a Studio with binding yet dot inlays more in line with a Special or Jr.
The years show on this guitar — the finish has honest play wear, small dings, and lacquer checking that give it plenty of character. Nothing artificial here, just decades of use. The neck feels broken-in and comfortable, with plenty of life left in the frets.
The Tim Shaw PAFs are the real highlight, delivering crisp cleans and rich thicker midrange growl that sits right in the sweet spot between ”real” PAF’s and these jewels. Electronics are original and working properly. Tuners have been swapped for vintage nickel Grovers. Weight is typical for an ’80s Gibson —9.4 lbs solid but manageable.
This isn’t a case-queen; it’s a well-played, pickguard corner is chipped and missing, this is a well-aged instrument that’s ready to keep making music. A great choice for anyone who wants the feel and sound of a true mid-80s Les Paul that is on the rarer side.
Includes original 80’s style case, possibly original just not certain.
