For your consideration is a rare Zildjian Transition Stamp cymbal at a very desirable weight. Features what I believe is a Type III Transition Stamp dating to around 1950-52. Perfect jazz ride weight at 1933g with a fairly typical weight distribution for the period; possesses a rather solid bell and gets progressively thinner to a flexible paper-thin edge, which improves the crashability of a medium-thin cymbal such as this. The incredible hand hammering throughout speaks to the expert craftsmanship that went into cymbals from this period, probably the golden age of American cymbal manufacturing. For a 75+ year old instrument it is rather finely tuned, with a controlled, slightly complex wash and medium-short sustain. A bright but balanced cymbal that blends effortlessly with drums and other cymbals.
Excellent condition considering the cymbal’s age; minimal roughness around the edge and one small ding/dent. The inner ring of rivet holes was drilled before my time (possibly factory); I had the outer holes drilled at Good Hands Drum Shop and enlarged the center hole very slightly myself.
