For sale is a vintage Neumann U87i. The serial number dates it to the early-mid 1980s. It is in very good condition and sounds great. The capsule is in nice condition and passes the “breath test”. It will come with a black Neuamnn shockmount, but obviosuly not original to this mic and the elastic bands were recently replaced with aftermarket bands. As mentioned, it does looks and sound very nice, but being sold as-is due to it being a vintage item. It will ship quickly. Thanks for looking.

UPDATE: I was receiving so many questions about the condition of the capsule, so I decided open it up to snap some photos, which I’ve now added to the listing. If you’ve ever taken the capsule assembly of a U87 out of the grille, you’ll know how tricky it is to get it in and out due to the nipples used for the pad and filter switches. Well unfortunately, both of the plastic nipples came off, but I used a tiny bit of epoxy in a syringe to reattach them. The switches still work fine, but I just wanted to disclose thIs so that there aren’t any surprises if you break out the magnifying glass and see a little epoxy residue where i attached the nipples. The close-up pictures of the switches are after I put them back on.
