For sale is a genuine 1991 Ibanez JEM777-DY Steve Vai Signature in the iconic Desert Yellow finish.
Serial number: JEM917577
Made in Japan
This is an authentic vintage JEM777 from the original neon era—not a reissue, tribute or modified RG. With its Monkey Grip, Lion’s Claw tremolo cavity, three-color disappearing pyramid inlays and unmistakable neon color scheme, the JEM777 remains one of the most iconic guitars ever created by Ibanez and Steve Vai.
This example is a genuine player-grade vintage instrument. It has been played extensively and has developed honest natural wear over more than three decades. The finish shows noticeable fading, particularly around the lower-right area of the body, along with scratches, marks and general wear consistent with regular use.
The neck plate and hardware also show age-related oxidation and patina. None of this wear has been artificially created—the guitar has naturally aged through years of playing.
Most importantly, it still delivers the unmistakable sound and feel of a vintage JEM: a fast maple neck, powerful and articulate HSH pickup configuration, excellent upper-fret access and the legendary Ibanez Edge double-locking tremolo system.
