The Wren and Cuff Phat Phuk B is a unique, hybrid germanium/JFET boost pedal designed specifically for bass guitar. 

Key Features & Design

• Hybrid Circuitry: Combines a modern input JFET transistor (which keeps the pedal impedance-friendly for both active and passive pickups) with a hand-selected new-old-stock (NOS) germanium transistor.
• Non-Transparent Boost: It is not a clean, transparent boost. Instead, it adds a warm, tube-like grit, thickens low-end frequencies, and introduces a pleasant sheen to the top end. 
• Minimalist Control: Typically built as a single-knob (volume) stompbox where turning it counter-clockwise gets quieter and cranking it adds gritty overdrive and thickness. 
• Phat Phuk B V2 Updates: The newer V2 version adds an external bias knob for fine-tuning the germanium character, an internal slide switch for an optional phase-inverting buffered output, and top-mounted DC jacks.

• Always-On Tone Sweetener: Many bassists use it as an "always-on" preamp-style enhancer to add depth, presence, and a touch of hair to their clean tone. 
• DAW Preamp: Recommended for running direct into an audio interface or DAW to de-sterilize direct bass tracks.
