This compact pedalboard-friendly preamp delivers professional tone shaping and studio-grade DI capabilities in a footprint that fits seamlessly into any rig. Handcrafted in Birmingham by Black Country Customs, the DB-EAST-PRE combines foot-switchable FET and Tube channels with comprehensive EQ control, serving equally well in the studio, on a silent practice rig, or feeding a live mixing console. The dual-channel architecture gives experienced players genuine tone-sculpting depth without unnecessary complexity.

Signal Path & Connectivity

Two independent 1/4" instrument inputs accommodate different bass types, with Input 2 featuring a trim pot for precise level matching across varying output levels. The balanced XLR DI output includes switchable ground lift and selectable source mode—pre, post, and LA-IR emulation—ensuring console-ready signals for any application. Additional I/O encompasses dedicated tuner output, FX send/return, 3.5mm stereo headphone output, and USB-C Class-compliant audio interface streaming at 48 kHz with access to the LA-IR app for further customization.

Tone Shaping & Channel Architecture

The FET channel provides transparent amplification, while the Tube channel features selectable gain characteristics with three different voicing options. Full EQ control spans Bass, Lo-mid with switchable Q and operating frequency, Hi-mid, Treble, and Tilt controls—all with +/− level adjustment. An integrated FX loop allows flexible tone layering and effect placement, while three dedicated footswitches manage channel selection, bypass/mute, and input switching with LED status indicators.
