I bought this guitar in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1999 and have been in love for all this time.
Spruce top, maple sides and back and a neck that you could only dream about.
I didn't like the sound of the original Fishman pickup at all so I researched and then got an LR Baggs in 2000 and it has been perfect for live playing and recording as a mix with a classic condenser recording mic. If you want to hear the guitar, go to Spotify and search for John Astor and listen to Golden Mustang and others. The acoustic guitar on all the albums is this Taylor.
The maple, being a bright sounding wood has aged beautifully over these 28 years and the instrument has a very full sound as a soloist and can cut though with full body when playing with a group. It has been a very good friend throughout the years.
When I spoke with Taylor guitars they emphatically expressed to me that this is one great instrument that they are very proud of. Ask them yourself.
I will be extraordinarily careful when I pack and send it.
