Selling this amazing piece of drum history. This is a 1940s Slingerland Student Model No. 157 3-ply snare drum in blue duco finish. The drum is 14x7" with ten Radio King lugs and Slingerland's flanged hoops. This drum has the rapid-release strainer as well. The drum has a brand new Remo Ambassador Coated on the batter and brand new Aquarian American Vintage Snare Side Head with Puresound 20-strand Blaster snare wires. This drum also comes with the original factory calfskin batter head.

Given the drums age and exposure to the elements, it has suffered some cosmetic and structural damage. The shell is not perfectly in round, however the modern heads do still fit. The bearing edges are also not perfectly flat when I've done a counter check with a flashlight. The chrome and nickel has some tarnish and pitting in areas. Most notably, the shell is flaking paint off in several spots and especially near the bearing edges. Hidden by the collar of the drum head, the resonant side especially is missing most of the blue paint near the bearing edge. There also appears to be a crack along the inner ply of wood inside the drum. Please see the photos and consider the condition of the cosmetics and structure of the shell. Otherwise, the drum does hold tension well and the snare strainer works perfectly.

Please reference the Slingerland Drum Catalog from 1941, of which I found a copy of on drumarchive.com ---

This drum is being sold as-is given its condition. Minimal efforts have been conducted to preserve the paint and finish of this shell. I would like to keep the finish original and leave the decision to restore it further up to the future owner of this drum. Thank you for considering my Reverb shop. I ship to the continental 48 US States. Thanks!
