Epiphone Elitist Nick Valensi Riviera P-94 — Vintage Sunburst (Made in Japan, 2006)
Up for sale is the rare Elitist version of the Nick Valensi (The Strokes) signature Riviera — not the standard Korean/Chinese production model, but the premium Japan-made Elitist built at the famed Terada factory for essentially one year (2006). Vintage Sunburst is the scarcer of the two Elitist finishes, and this one looks fantastic.
This is the real deal Elitist, confirmed by the black engraved "Nick Valensi P-94" truss rod cover, the "Elitist" logo on the back of the headstock. Terada-built Epiphone Elitists are widely regarded as some of the best archtops to come out of Japan in the 2000s, and they command a serious premium over the standard version.
Specs:
- 5-ply laminated maple top, back, and sides
- Set mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with parallelogram inlays
- Bone nut
- Genuine Gibson USA P-94 pickups (P-94R neck / P-94T bridge)
- Tune-o-matic bridge with Frequensator trapeze tailpiece
- Grover tuners, nickel hardware
- Vintage Sunburst finish
- Comes with a raised 3-ply black pick guard with a metal "E" logo (located in case)
Condition: I've had this guitar since 2006 and have played a number of gigs with it so it does have some minor dings and scratches most notably a little bit of the purfling has come off the base of the guitar which I have glued back on (see attached photo), the head, back of the neck have a few scratches but otherwise plays beautifully and sounds amazing.
