2017 PRS S2 Vela Semi-Hollow Reclaimed Limited in excellent overall condition.

This is a particularly beautiful example of an already rare PRS limited run. The star here is the reclaimed Brazilian Peroba Rosa top — this one has especially striking grain, movement and color across the entire face of the guitar. Because every piece of reclaimed timber was totally unique, the appearance varies considerably from guitar to guitar, and I think this is one of the nicer-looking examples I’ve seen. (PRS Forum members gave it super-high scores and comments when posted some years ago.)

PRS produced the Reclaimed Limited series using historic Brazilian hardwoods salvaged from old buildings. The run was extremely limited, offered only within a five week ordering window, one which was sold out almost overnight and with only 600 instruments built in total between the Reclaimed Vela and CE 24 models.

The Vela pairs the reclaimed Peroba Rosa top with a semi-hollow mahogany body, mahogany neck and reclaimed Brauna Preto fingerboard with PRS Old School bird inlays. It’s a very distinctive combination both visually and tonally and one that PRS hasn’t duplicated in the standard Vela line.

An important note about the top: PRS intentionally retained the character and history of the reclaimed timber, including nail holes, checking, small cracks, discoloration and other natural imperfections. These characteristics vary from guitar to guitar and are part of what makes each Reclaimed Limited unique.

This example has several of these original reclaimed-wood characteristics visible on the top. The most noticeable are near the lower center of the front and along the bass/left side. I’ve photographed these areas closely so there are no surprises. Please see all photos for the exact condition and character of the wood.

Condition is excellent overall. One owner, never gigged. The guitar has been very well cared for, with the back, neck, headstock and fingerboard presenting especially cleanly.

Includes a very nice Road Runner tweed hardshell case. Please note that this is not a PRS case. It is a quality aftermarket hardshell case, likewise in excellent condition, that fits the guitar well and provides excellent protection.

Between the exceptionally attractive piece of Peroba Rosa, excellent overall condition, original hang tag/paperwork and very limited production, this is a standout example of the Reclaimed Vela and one that should appeal equally to a player or PRS collector.
