FEEL FREE TO REACH OUT TO JOE'S VINTAGE GUITARS in Mesa, AZ with any questions, or to chat about the instrument.
Up for sale is a soulful, mojo-packed 1967 Martin D-35 dreadnought with incredible character and true golden-era tone. Sourced directly from an old-time bluegrass picker up in Williams, Arizona, this instrument has lived a life of real music-making and delivers the unmistakable, played-in voice that only decades of genuine vibration and natural aging can produce. Adding to its wonderful history and provenance, it even includes the original California purchase contract from when it was first bought new.
Tonally, this guitar is an absolute standout that sounds every bit as seasoned and beautiful as it looks. The solid Brazilian rosewood back and sides paired with its aged spruce top produce a rich, cavernous low end, punchy mid-range punch, and sweet, rounded trebles. Thanks to the 1/4-inch bracing unique to the D-35, it is remarkably lively, responsive, and open under the fingers—effortlessly dynamic whether you are driving hard with a flatpick for classic bluegrass runs or exploring nuanced, delicate fingerpicking. It comes stage-ready with an internal pickup installed, featuring an active battery cleanly mounted inside the body via Velcro.
The guitar has been refretted in the past, offering clean, comfortable frets with plenty of life left to ensure smooth playability up and down the neck.
Cosmetically and structurally, this is an honest, road-tested vintage player with genuine aesthetic wear throughout. There is a cleanly repaired, stable top crack right beside the pickguard (a classic spot for vintage Martins). The bridge shows a very slight lift at the back edge, but it remains solid, stable, and the guitar plays cleanly and sounds phenomenal just as it sits.
This guitar ships promptly, professionally packed, and fully insured.
