Gibson Barney Kessel Regular Cherry Sunburst 1968

Superb example of a 1968 Gibson Barney Kessel Regular, a relatively rare model and especially desirable in this state of preservation. Exceptionally light at only 6.6 lbs, it retains its original Cherry Sunburst finish with beautiful natural lacquer checking.

The electronics remain completely original and untouched, with intact factory solder joints, original Faraday cages and both original Gibson humbuckers. The neck pickup has a nickel cover while the bridge pickup is chrome, a factory mismatch consistent with the parts variations encountered at Gibson during this period.

The fine crack visible behind the headstock is in the lacquer only and is not a headstock crack. The area was carefully inspected and tested by our shop, confirming no involvement of the wood. A small side crack near the jack has been properly stabilized. No other structural issues.

The guitar also retains its original ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles and original double-line/double-ring Kluson Deluxe tuners. It received a complete refret and setup in our shop and now offers excellent action and playability.
