• EMS license + former EMS engineer recreation + PRE/POST-1974 slopes + preserved vintage CV slew + switchable fast CV + voltage-controlled RESPONSE.
  • Not a “EMS VC3 Inspired” VCF... This is the actual EMS-LICENSED CIRCUIT. Explicitly, the RS-500E is a Genuine EMS Synthi VCS3 Filter; the filter circuit is used under license from EMS Ltd.
  • REAL EMS ENGINEERING LINEAGE. Recreated by former EMS engineer Steve Gay to reproduce the original EMS synthesizer filter architecture as closely as practical in modular format.
  • TWO EMS FILTER ERAS IN ONE MODULE. Switch between PRE-1974 = 18dB/oct and POST-1974 = 24dB/oct. One panel. Two historically different Synthi responses.
  • THIS IS THE BIG DEAL: most “vintage-style” filters give you one modern interpretation. RS-500E gives you documented EMS licensing + selectable historic EMS slopes + original CV behavior.
  • CV SLEW SLOW = ORIGINAL EMS BEHAVIOR. Fast control-voltage changes are intentionally softened by the original-style slew behavior. Result: classic bubbling / gliding / warbling Synthi modulation.
  • CV SLEW FAST = REMOVE THE OLD LIMIT. Bypass that slow CV response for fast envelopes, sharp modulation and harder transient filter movement. Vintage behavior OR modern speed. Switch it.
  • RESPONSE = EMS LANGUAGE FOR RESONANCE. Push RESPONSE high and the filter rings harder around cutoff.
  • RESPONSE CAN SELF-OSCILLATE. At high settings the filter becomes its own sine-like audio source, with pitch controlled by filter cutoff.
  • RESPONSE IS VOLTAGE-CONTROLLABLE. Dedicated RESPONSE CV-IN means resonance is not stuck under one knob. Patch envelopes, LFOs, sequencers or other CV directly into the EMS response behavior.
  • THAT IS A REAL UPGRADE OVER THE ORIGINAL EMS WORKFLOW. Original instruments gave manual RESPONSE control; RS-500E makes it a proper modulation destination.
  • FULL 20Hz–20kHz FREQUENCY RANGE. Not a one-trick “vintage coloration” box. Full-range voltage-controlled low-pass filtering.
  • TWO DIFFERENT CUTOFF-CV ROUTES. CV-IN FIXED handles near-1V/oct control while retaining the original EMS circuit's nonlinear tracking character.
  • VARIABLE CV INPUT = MODULATION DEPTH ON TAP. Second cutoff CV path has its own LEVEL control, letting you dial subtle movement or very aggressive cutoff modulation without external attenuation.
  • ORIGINAL EMS NONLINEARITY IS NOT “CORRECTED AWAY.” The fixed input only tracks usefully for roughly two octaves. That limitation is part of the actual vintage circuit behavior—not hidden behind fake precision claims.
  • SIG IN HANDLES UP TO ±10V. Dedicated input LEVEL lets you attenuate, hit unity, or add a small amount of gain before the filter.
  • SIG OUT ALSO HAS ITS OWN LEVEL CONTROL. Proper gain staging before AND after filtering. No need to treat the module like a fixed-level black box.
  • 12HP — DENSE PANEL, ZERO WASTED SPACE. FREQUENCY + RESPONSE + audio input/output levels + two cutoff-CV paths + RESPONSE CV + FAST/SLOW slew + 18/24dB historical mode switching.
  • CLONES CAN COPY A TOPOLOGY. The RS-500E has documented EMS authorization and engineering lineage behind the circuit.
