Dynamic Note and Scale modes keep every pad locked to the key you are working in, so wrong notes are off the table, while Drum mode lays out a dedicated grid for finger-drumming. Four Custom Modes let you map the pads and 16 side buttons to any MIDI parameter you want, and a one-press Capture MIDI button grabs the melody you just played even if you forgot to hit record.

Beyond Ableton Live, where it also supports Live Loops in Logic Pro, the Launchpad X works as a standard class-compliant MIDI controller with any compatible software.
