JHS SuperBolt V1 “3-Bolt” – 2012 – One of Only 50 – Serial #144 – Hand-Stamped

For sale is an exceptionally rare early JHS SuperBolt V1 featuring the original three-stage lightning-bolt logo, Serial #144, internally dated November 13, 2012.

For the serious JHS collector, this is not simply an early SuperBolt. It is one of the first 50 SuperBolts produced with the original three-stage lightning-bolt icon.

According to JHS founder Josh Scott, JHS produced only 50 examples with this three-stage bolt before the artwork had to be changed because of its similarity to Supro’s trademark. Subsequent SuperBolts received the familiar four-stage lightning bolt.

That makes the original 3-Bolt SuperBolt one of the legitimately scarce variants in JHS history.

Documented Early Example

This particular pedal is Serial #144 and retains its original internal handwritten JHS markings:

Those markings provide excellent provenance for the pedal and document it as an original November 2012 example from the earliest period of SuperBolt production.

The exterior retains the distinctive early JHS aesthetic: white enclosure, black knobs, hand-applied graphics and, most importantly, the original three-stage lightning-bolt icon.

The Original SuperBolt V1

The SuperBolt was designed to capture the character and response of vintage Supro-style amplifiers, delivering everything from warm breakup and dynamic low-gain drive to raw, harmonically rich overdrive.

This original V1 features:

● Hi/Lo toggle

The Hi/Lo switch changes the pedal’s response and gain character, while the three primary controls allow it to move from relatively clean and dynamic tones into much more aggressive amp-like overdrive.

Condition

The pedal is in Very Good condition with cosmetic wear consistent with its age and early hand-stamped construction.

The original three-stage lightning-bolt graphic remains clearly visible, as do the early exterior markings. Please examine all photographs carefully for the exact cosmetic condition.

The inside of the enclosure retains the original handwritten “SUPER BOLT,” Serial #144 and 11-13-12 date, and a photograph of these markings is included as part of the pedal’s provenance.

The pedal functions as it should.

For collectors of early, rare and discontinued JHS pedals, the original 3-Bolt SuperBolt is a particularly significant variant. Unlike many pedals described as “rare,” JHS itself has documented the production quantity: only 50 were made with this original three-stage lightning-bolt icon.
