Rare Aria Acoustic Guitar, Made in Japan, 1968-1974 Matsuoka-built

From my research it's a rare classical nylon-string guitar handcrafted in Japan, made between 1968-1974. Beautiful collector's item and a great-sounding guitar with character.

Made during the golden age of Japanese lutherie, Aria outsourced its high-end classical instrument production to world-renowned workshops. It features robust structural techniques, such as the multi-piece reinforced neck you can see from that centre stripe, making it a highly dependable and resonant instrument. The phrase "Construccion artistica de Guitarra" (Artistic Guitar Construction) on the inner label indicates it belongs to Aria's premium, concert-grade classical series from that era. Spanish label and low, 5-digit sequential serial numbers (like 00209) were frequently handcrafted in the workshop of master luthier Ryoji Matsuoka. The absence of a master's signature alongside a low sequential serial number indicates the instrument is a high-quality production model, and the the cursive script Aria logo printed on the guitar's headstock places its manufacturing date between 1968 and 1974.

The guitar of course shows signs of age and use with cosmetic wear. It is structurally sound with no major cracks or repairs. Strings will need replacing and it needs to be set up. Tuners have been recently replaced.  

Additional: 

• The Serial Number (00209): This indicates a very early, low-volume production batch from the workshop, and these early workshop numbers were stamped sequentially as each instrument left the bench. 
• Model 1693: While Aria's primary production lines used standard "A-series" model numbers (e.g., A551 or A558), specialized runs, internal export numbers, or custom batches for specific distributors were sometimes assigned distinct 4-digit codes such as this one.
• The Spanish Label: This styling was popular among Japanese builders in the 1960s and 70s to pay homage to traditional Spanish guitar construction methods, which they studied meticulously to perfect their own concert guitars.
