Jim Kelley Attenuator – Hand‑Built by Jim Kelley (Recent Limited Run)
I picked up this attenuator directly from Jim not long ago, but plans have changed and I need to move it along. This is the elusive Jim Kelley attenuator from his recent limited batch — hand‑built by Jim himself, not the Suhr reissue — and it’s hand‑signed.
This unit includes everything from the original package:
- Kelley pins
- Kelley card
- Bypass plug (for using the attenuator without the footswitch)
- Ultra heavy‑duty footswitch for toggling attenuation in/out
Components:
- Genuine Ohmite rheostats
- Switchcraft connectors
- Dayton capacitors
- Darling switches
- 16‑gauge steel chassis with front panel guard
- Loudness Compensation circuit
- Footswitch interface jack for channel switching or gain boost
- Maximum Power Input: 100 watts
The build quality is exactly what you’d expect from Kelley: overbuilt, precise, and rock‑solid.
I’ve used it literally once with a 60‑watt Boogie Mark II. I paid $1400 with the footswitch, and I’m asking less than that. My plan was to stash it for when I eventually found a Kelley amp, but that looks like it may be a ways off.
