This is my 2006 Larrivée LV-03R Recording Series acoustic-electric guitar, made in Canada and equipped with a quality LR Baggs pickup/preamp system.

Serial number: 0389522

This has been a wonderful guitar to own and play. It has the warmth and depth you would expect from rosewood, combined with the clarity, balance, and articulation that Larrivée guitars are particularly known for. Chords stay defined rather than muddy, individual notes speak clearly, and the guitar has a rich, open voice that works beautifully for songwriting, fingerstyle playing, accompaniment, and full rhythm strumming.

The LV body shape with Venetian cutaway also makes it a very comfortable and versatile instrument, particularly for players who want easier access higher up the neck.

Construction & Tone

The LV-03R features a solid spruce top with solid Indian rosewood back and sides. The rosewood gives the guitar plenty of depth and harmonic richness, while the spruce top keeps the response clear and dynamic.

The back and sides have especially beautiful natural rosewood figuring, and the guitar has developed the visual character you would expect from an instrument that has been making music for close to two decades.

Other appointments include:

  • Solid spruce top
  • Solid Indian rosewood back and sides
  • Ebony fingerboard
  • Ebony bridge
  • Maple body binding
  • Venetian cutaway
  • Natural satin finish
  • Tortoise-style pickguard
  • Chrome tuning machines
  • LR Baggs acoustic-electric electronics
  • Hardshell case included

LR Baggs Electronics

A particularly nice feature of this guitar is the LR Baggs pickup/preamp system.

LR Baggs is highly regarded for acoustic amplification, and having a quality pickup system already installed makes this an excellent guitar for someone who intends to perform as well as play acoustically.

The guitar can easily go from a writing or recording session to a rehearsal, acoustic amp, PA system, or live stage without needing an additional pickup installed.

The onboard controls also allow you to shape the amplified sound directly from the guitar.

Condition

I want to be completely transparent about the condition so that the next owner knows exactly what they are purchasing.

This is a player's guitar, not a cosmetically pristine collector's instrument. It has been played, traveled with, and loved over the years.

There are two cracks in the top that were professionally repaired by a guitar repair shop in Nashville. Those repairs have remained stable and, in my experience, have had no negative impact on the sound or playability of the guitar.

I have also recently noticed two additional small cracks/lines that have not yet been professionally evaluated. They are relatively minor visually, and the guitar continues to play and sound beautifully. Because I have not yet had those particular areas assessed by a luthier, I want to disclose them rather than make assumptions about their significance.

I am very happy to provide close-up photographs of all of these areas to an interested buyer.

There is also light belt-buckle scratching and surface wear on the back, along with other small cosmetic marks consistent with a guitar of this age that has actually been played.

I have made an effort to represent the instrument honestly in the photographs rather than conceal its normal signs of use.

A Beautiful Player's Larrivée

What I love about this instrument is that it doesn't feel precious—it feels like a guitar meant to make music.

It has the tonewoods, craftsmanship, and musicality of a high-quality Canadian-made Larrivée, while its cosmetic history means the next owner can actually take it to rehearsals, write songs on it, record with it, and bring it onstage without feeling like they need to keep it behind glass.

The repair history and cosmetic wear are reflected in the asking price. For someone who values sound, solid-wood construction, beautiful rosewood, quality electronics, and the character of a mature instrument over cosmetic perfection, I think this represents a particularly nice opportunity.

It still sounds beautiful, plays beautifully, and has many years of music left in it.

Please feel free to message me with any questions. I am happy to provide additional detailed photographs of the repaired cracks, the two newly noticed small areas, belt-buckle wear, electronics, serial number, or any other part of the guitar you would like to inspect before purchasing.
