If you know, you know. These were a limited edition special with a three year run. So fun to play and riffs just fall out of this thing.

This is a 2004 Gibson SG Platinum in an ebony gloss finish. It has everything you'd expect from a made in the USA SG, mojo included, but this one also features a beautiful ebony fretboard and 490R and 490T alnico II pickups with distinctive grey bobbins Gibson only used in this line of guitars to my knowledge. They sound fantastic and will give you a wide range of sounds.

The platinum line of guitars have a well earned reputation for playability and great sound and this one is no different. It demands to be played, and it has taken a few knocks in its 22 years because of it, but nothing more than a little added character. It is still in great shape. The most noticeable would be a dent on the top near the volume knobs with another one on the upper edge of the body as it sits in playing position. No paint was lost in either of these spots, which minimizes visibility quite a bit. There isn't much buckle rash at all. I tried to capture what is there but the ebony gloss just mirrored the ceiling fan. The neck is in great shape. No cracks or breaks. It's a '50s style neck profile and to my hand it feels wonderful. The previous owner managed to scuff the back of the neck near the neck heel. Maybe the strap gently scratching the neck while in the case? I don't feel it when I play up there, but I want to be thorough in sharing these things. Not much more wear aside from the usual mild swirling here and there. I have done my best to document evidence of use, but please feel free to request additional photos.

This is entirely stock as far as I know aside from the pickguard. These came with a black pickguard that had a thin metallic coating. That coating scratches off easily, showing the black underneath. I tracked down an anodized aluminum guard and feel it is a big aesthetic improvement. I'm including the original in case you are a purist and I've included a photo. The guitar sounds and feels just as great with either option. You do you!

You'll also get a hard case. I will loosen strings and pack it snugly to ensure everything reaches you just as you see it here. If the listed shipping fee is not met when it heads your way, I will refund the difference. If it is exceeded, I will eat the loss. This is an extremely fun riff machine. All of those classic tones you'd expect are just waiting for you. If I wasn't hunting a white whale purchase I wouldn't be parting with it. Please let me know if you have any questions. I’m happy to talk guitars. Thanks for looking!
