This 1966 Vibrolux Reverb BF is in remarkable “collector condition”. Take a close look at the chassis pics…..the Blue Molded Ajax caps and Mallory capacitors are still in place. The Orange Mallory caps look really good with no visible leaks but, vintage electrolytic caps, should be replaced if you plan to gig this amp. This is a one-owner amp that has been taken care of for all of its 60 years. It was taken to a tech approximately 20 years ago, and it appears that only the tubes were serviced. I believe that the Mullard GZ34 rectifier tube and the GE and RCA 12AX7 tubes are original to this amp but IDK that for sure. The GCs are the replacements. The grille cloth, Tolex, face plate, knobs, and handle are original and in incredible condition. The original pair of Jensen C10NS speakers (code: C8284) are fairly rare and highly sought after 10-inch ceramic speakers that features a 1.5-inch voice coil and a specialized magnet structure made specifically for the Fender Vibrolux Reverb. The Schumacher transformers are original as well. The tube chart confirms the build date of October 1966 with “PJ” printed on the label. The label’s circuit production code “AA864” is a well known factory mis-print. This amp has the correct AA964 circuit. Serial number is “A08308”. All date codes on the iron, speakers, and pots also point to this amp build having a build date of 1966. This amp is a real time capsule and, because of its incredible condition, is being offered in unrestored original condition at this time. Buyer should plan on having a Tech service this beauty to replace the original electrolytic caps and power cord if planning to gig with it. The original 2 button black footswitch will need new switches as they are sticky and intermittent. It’s not often that a 66 BF VR “closet queen” in this condition comes along. Don’t let this one get away!
