1979 Greco EG600 Les Paul Custom
Vintage 1979 Greco Les Paul Custom EG600 finished in cherry sunburst and featuring the classic three humbucker configuration.
This guitar comes from Greco’s highly regarded late 1970s Japanese production period and is consistent with instruments produced by FujiGen Gakki during that era.
This Greco EG600 features a maple top over a mahogany body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard.
The guitar is currently fitted with Gotoh tuners, stop-tail piece, bridge and a Graph Tech TUSQ nut. It retains the classic features including block inlays, multi ply binding, cream plastics, four control knobs, and the three pickup layout. Pickups are made in Woodstock, NY by a local luthier - alnico II in the bridge, alnico V in the middle and neck. Additionally it is modified with individual volumes for each individual pickup, so you can make it sound like a fat strat, or engage the push pull knob on the master tone knob to flip the phase of the middle humbucker to get a Brian May quack with the neck and middle pickups. This guitar plays beautifully and is setup with Ernie Ball 9’s. Video coming soon. Comes with gig-bag.
Condition is best described as player grade. The guitar has been played, repaired, modified, and shows honest signs of age and use throughout. This includes scratches, scuffs, finish wear, small chips, finish checking and finish lines, aged binding and plastics, and visible repair of the wing of the headstock. For clarity, this guitar does not have the headstock/neck angle repair. The photos have been intentionally taken to show these areas clearly. Nothing has been cosmetically hidden for the listing, and prospective buyers are encouraged to review the close up photos carefully.
